Geelong Eastern Beach Reserve, VIC

Standing to the east of Geelong City on Corio Bay is the much loved and magnificent art deco masterpiece, Eastern Beach. It has been a favourite destination for families since opening in the late 1930s; it is as popular today as it was back then.

Eastern Beach has been fully restored as the first part of a major waterfront precinct rejuvenation; with the children’s pool upgrade completed in 2013 by Ceramic Solutions.

The swimming enclosure is one of Geelong’s most well known icons, this large double platform wooden structure complete with shark gate sweeps in a half circle around 8 1/2 acres of sea water. The enclosure has a diving board, floating islands and slides and can hold thousands of swimmers, with a delightful sandy beach backing onto the children’s pool.

The children’s pool is a shallow cement pool and includes a magnificent fountain in the centre. The pool has been a significant learn to swim centre of the city for decades. The restoration of the pool has been done during the cooler months of the year, so it could be available to the public as of September, leading into the extremely busy time.

As part of the development, HT Jasba mosaic tiles have been installed, providing the community with a long lasting, slip resistant surface that provides anti-bacterial protection and a high-level of hygiene to swimmers.

The prestigious appearance of the mosaics also links to the beautiful surroundings of historical buildings and gardens, which is Geelong’s most popular location for wedding photographs, family picnics and social events, with thousands of locals and tourists flocking to this area each year.
