Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre
The $57 million Gippsland Regional Aquatic Centre (“GRAC”) is the centrepiece of the Latrobe Valley Authority’s $85 million sports and infrastructure package offering Gippsland residents a world class facility along with a regional first via the inclusion of a deep bore geothermal heating system to reduce the centre’s carbon footprint and significantly decrease operational costs.
The GRAC was officially opened in March 2020 following nine months of construction led by head contractor ADCO Constructions. The centre comprises an eight lane 50 metre indoor pool with 500 spectator seats, an indoor water play zone, two large water slides, a learn to swim pool, café and retail precinct along with a 25-metre heated outdoor pool.
With a large focus on health and wellbeing the centre offers a warm water therapy pool, spa, sauna and steam rooms, wellness centre, wet and dry change facilities, and gymnasium with group fitness rooms.
Ceramic Solutions supplied and installed ceramic tiles throughout the facility including Agrob Buchtal Emotion mid grey in 600x600mm and 600x300mm for the lobby and public floors and Basis 3 white glossy 400x200mm wall tiles with a hygienic Hytect self-cleaning surface. Floors requiring higher slip resistance and water displacement characteristics such as pool concourse and amenity areas, were tiled in Agrob Buchtal Basis 3 mid grey R12/V4.
The result is a stunning facility offering visual appeal and high levels of safety and functionality for residents of the Gippsland region.
