Caulfield Grammar School, VIC
Caulfield Grammar School is an independent, co-educational, day and boarding school, located in Melbourne. Founded in 1881, Caufield Grammar is a five-campus school with the original campus in East St Kilda housing 1450 students. This campus is home to the purpose-built, innovative Caulfield Grammar Aquatic & Wellbeing Centre completed in late 2019.
Ceramic Solutions proudly serviced the school and ADCO Constructions in supplying and installing a fit-out package of significant proportions including: pool tiling to the 51.5m x 20m competition pool, concourses, change rooms and circulation spaces; Malmsten FINA compliant lane ropes and Omega starting blocks. A Stark 20.5 x 1.5 fibreglass bulkhead with provision for timing equipment was installed enabling the pool to have 9 different operational configurations.
Ceramic Solutions also supplied and installed a KBE movable floor and tilt-up wall to separate the main pool for learn to swim activities inclusive of a platform enabling disabled access (thereby avoiding the need for cumbersome hoists on the concourse). The pool fit-out selections offer ultimate flexibility for multiple uses to occur simultaneously including competition swimming and training, water polo, diving, learn-to-swim, and recreational swimming. The KBE movable floor and tilt wall are the second of their type Australia-wide.
Architects Peddle Thorp specified glazed product Stroher Secuton in colour White for the pool concourse floors and Geo 2.0 floor tiles in colour Anthracite for the ground floor lobby, change rooms and circulation spaces. Agrob Buchtal Plural White wall tiles were selected as wall finishes.
